Robert "Bob" Leonard

Robert “Bob” Leonard, 94, of Onslow, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026, in Cascade, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello on Saturday, February 28th, 2026. Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 am at the church prior to mass. Interment will follow with military honors at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. There will be a Celebration of Bob’s Life following the interment, at the Monticello Eagles Club.

Bob was born on May 2, 1931, in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Louis and Elizabeth (Donovan) Leonard. He proudly served in the Korean Conflict; being honorably discharged. Bob married Lois Sternhagen on January 4 th, 1956 at St Martins Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa. They raised their family on a dairy farm between Onslow & Center Junction, which today, is still the family farm. After retirement, they moved to Onslow, but his heart was still on the farm. He loved the farm and was out there almost every day “tinkering” around after his morning coffee at the Center Junction Coffee Club.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Lois, his children, Kathy (Phil McDonald) Bone of Monticello, Kevin (Brenda) Leonard of Wyoming, Connie Harris of Monmouth, Gary (Renee) Leonard of Center Junction. 8 Grandchildren, Melissa, Travis, Katie, Shelby, Bailey, Allison, Ryan, & Andrea. He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren, many nieces & nephews, extended family & friends.

He was preceded in life by his parents, brothers John (Mary) & Mark (Irma), Son-In-Law Terry Harris & nephews Mike Leonard, Shawn Leonard & Jim Hunter.

Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and friend to many. 

Nothing compared to the love Bob had for his family, his faith in God, and his farm.
